I Have No Regrets Aligning With Don Jazzy says Dr Sid

At the height of the D’banj, Don Jazzy public spat, Marvin artiste, Dr. Sid was the first to declare where his loyalty lies – with the maverick producer. Recently, he has been in the limelight for the wrong reason following a private conversation between him and pop sensation, Davido that surfaced online.

The norm would have been an outright denial but the ‘over the moon’ crooner stood by the words attributed to him in the audio and instead laid the blame at the feet of ‘people he trusted’ and who betrayed that trust.

To many, the brief audio leak gave a further insight into the bad blood that was brewing at the defunct Mo’Hits Records between the most visible force D’banj, and other label mates.

In defence, he says, “I have said all I have to say on this matter and I never had any problem with D’banj. I am entitled to my opinion and it is unfortunate that recording was ever done in the first place. It thought me a lesson on who to speak to and not to speak to. Don Jazzy is my big brother in the industry and I have no regrets at all, joining his camp. He is someone who’s musical opinion I trust above anyone else. He took me out of my comfort zone of just Hip Hop and I am happy to say I am still challenging myself with each new song.”

The University of Ibadan Dental Surgery graduate has not given up hope of practising someday in the future as he revealed, “how do you know I am not practising secretly? These days everyone needs like two different paroles o! Seriously though, I think about it but I decided a while ago to see how far I would go with music and I have not regretted that decision. Music is the best job in the world and I just thank God for allowing me do it,” he adds with a laugh.

The singer also recalled his days as a back-up dancer with the Trybesmen before he got a break on their hit track, Oya, Dr. Sid relives some of those memorable moments he shared with the group back then.

“Those days were fun men! There was something about that innocence that I will always remember. No be say we no innocent now o. I have matured a lot as an artiste since then and all that will come forth in my album which will be out next year. My fans have so much to look forward to hearing and seeing from me.”
