Okada Accidents Claim 107 Lives And Injured 512 Persons In Two Years

The recent banning of Okadas from major streets in the Lagos state metropolitian have been greeted with different reactions. According to the majority, while the action is a welcome development from the menace which these Okada drivers have become, one cannot totally ignore the effects of the absence of these bikes. Lagosians are groaning that the wieght of the fuel scarcity is being felt full force now that the bikes have been taken off the streets.
Mr. Nwosu Adiele, and whose office is located close to Alausa, Ikeja, disclosed to Saturday Tribune that he spent about five hours before he could get to his house at Igando in Alimosho Local Government area despite leaving his office at about 4.30pm on Tuesday. However due to statistics showing the number of injuries and deaths from Okada accidents, one cannot help but feel a certain level of ambivalence towards the new law.
