We all know it is wrong to steal another man's property, be it a pen or ram, but the question still remains, is this the right way to deal with such issues?

Some people have said this is the best way to deal it as people don't seem to learn from past events e.g ALUU Boys, and still prefer to take the risk of stealing and damning the consequences.

“We Will Seize Fire If Government Arrests Sheriff And Compensate Us” – Boko Haram

Members of Jama’atul Ahlis Sunnah Lidda’awati Wal Jihad also known as Boko Haram have said they are now willing to seize fire and stop all atrocities being perpetrated by their group and work against other existing groups if the State and Federal Government will truly heed to their demands.

The acclaimed spokesman of the group, Abu Mohammed Ibn Abdulazeez, who doubles as the second-in-command (Amir) to their leader Imam Abubakar Shekau revealed this in a tele-conference with journalists in Maiduguri on Thursday stating that if the state and the federal government want the group to seize fire completely, then former Borno state governo,r Ali Modu Sheriff must be arrested and prosecuted according to the law of the land.

He also said that apart from the arrest of Senator Ali Sheriff, government should compensate the group and rebuild their places of worship which were destroyed during 2009 uprising.

Abu Abdulazeez further stressed that, all their members who were arrested and are under the custody of security agencies must be released with immediate effect, and all their wives who were displaced following the crises as well as their children must be rehabilitated into the society to create room for a fruitful dialogue with the Federal Government.

He pointed out that for a dialogue to take place, it must be through the following elders namely: Dr. Shettima Ali Monguno, Former Head of State General Muhammadu Buhari, former Yobe State Governor, Bukar Abba Ibrahim, Ambassador Gaji Galtimari and Barr Aisha Alkali Wakil and her husband, Barr, Alkali Wakil, insisting that the dialogue must not take place in Nigeria but Saudi Arabia, as according to him, the government of Nigeria is not sincere for dialogue due to its betrayal in the past.

Abu Abdulazeez also said that the group has mandated five members who are to mediate on their behalf; they include himself (Abu Mohammed Abdulazeez), Abu Abbas, Sheikh Ibrahim Yusuf, Sheikh Sani Kontogora and Mamman Nur

While speaking on the series of killings and unwantom destruction of property that took over Maiduguri recently, Abu Abdulazeez disassociated the group from such act, pointing out that such attacks were politically motivated by those seeking for power in the Borno Emirate council, government or otherwise, but not in line with the ideology of the sect who are fighting for the cause of Allah.

He also said that,the burning of old and newly constructed primary schools witnessed across the state were not masterminded by the sect, insisting that the burning of such places were carried out by aggrieved politicians who were denied contracts from the state government.

Victim's Father Forgives Alleged Rapist

The father of a rape victim on Wednesday told the Karu Magistrates’ Court, Abuja, that he had forgiven the 24-year-old alleged rapist.

The accused person, Paul Fidelis, had pleaded not guilty when the case was mentioned on Oct. 3. “I have forgiven the alleged offender,” the father of the victim, Pastor Paul Goodness of Anguwan Fulani, Jikwoyi, Abuja, said on Wednesday.

“As a pastor who preaches to people about forgiveness, I feel I should show good example. Fidelis’ family members have come and pleaded with me.”

But the magistrate, Mr Christopher Oba, warned Goodness of the implication of his decision. “You don’t let your 13-year-old-daughter to be molested and you want to overlook it in the name of compassion.

“This act of defilement can negatively affect her for the rest of her life; it may make her not to trust any man again.” But Goodness insisted, “I believe the word of God can do better in her life.”

The magistrate then ordered that 21 strokes of the cane be administered on the accused and that he should sign a bond of peace that would run for 10 years.

4 Bank Robbery Suspects Arrested With 7 AK-47 Riffles, Dynamites

The Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS, of the Lagos State Police Command is currently interrogating four bank robbery suspects who were arrested on Wednesday along Adanloko-Jakande Road, Ajangbadi, Lagos State, Southwest Nigeria.

As at the time of their arrest, the four suspects, Ali Kadiri, 30, Victor Alegbe, 10, Joseph Nnamu, 30 and Kingsley Ekwueme, 30 reportedly had in their possession seven AK-47 rifles, five pieces of dynamites and bomb accessories.

Police sources said the suspects also had in their possession 700 rounds of live ammunition, 59 AK-47 magazines, one K2 rifle, one Lar rifle with 20 rounds of its ammunition, one magazine, three pump action gun, one single barrel gun and 15 catridges.

They also had a police inspector’s uniform belonging to an officer they killed in one of their operations, a Toyota Sienna bus marked AMC 347 AE, one Jaguar Car with registration number Lagos TT 518 KJA and a Volkswagen commuter bus with Oyo state number, LUY 121 XA.

Parading the suspects at the police headquarters, Ikeja today, Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Umar Manko said the Area Commander of Area ‘K’ Police Command, ACP Adesina Soyemi got a distress call and he responded swiftly with his men to the scene of a robbery at Dapo bus stop at Ajangbadi.

The suspects opened fire on the police and during the gun fight, three suspects were killed, three arrested.

Arms and ammunition were also recovered from the three suspects.

The fourth suspect was later arrested with the Toyota Sienna bus which they used to stock their arms and ammunition.

After their arrest, the four suspects were referred to SARS for further investigation.

In their confessional statement, the four suspects allegedly said they have participated in several bank robberies around Lagos state.

Manko has therefore advised residents to report any suspicious movement to the police.

He reiterated his men’s commitment to combating crime.
